hi edward,
i have a uad1 and have to say that as an ex protools owner who still uses other peoples pt rigs, the uad1 definitely sounds BETTER. i've used the powercore, the only thing about it that i liked was the sony oxford eq, but this has to be bought quite expensively as an addition to the card! the main problem i have with the powercore is the fact that it only manages about a quarter of the power that can easily be expected from the uad1! the uad1 is made by universal audio who undeniably make very special, classic sounding equipment. check their website, uaudio.com for their comparisons with some very famous competitors. i recommend you spend as much time as possible reading their spec comparisons etc. good luck... -------------------- one for all and all for one...
