Hi Folks,
Sorry if I have asked a question which has been asked a thousand times before....
I have a G3 266 on OS 8.6 with M Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard and Logic Audio Silver which works fine. I just inherited a G4 450MhZ on OSX 10.3.9. It seems Logic Silver won't work on OSX. What do I do?? The new fangled Logic Express seems to be less powerful than the old Audio Silver since it has only 12 audio tracks etc. (Audio Silver has 24 audio tracks). Can I run Silver on my G4? Would I have to install OS 9. whatever? or is there other software which would equal the power of Logic Silver????
Thanks in advance, Davie

Hi there
Thanks for that info. So, next question - should I flatten the HD and install OS9. whatever, OR install OS9 and keep OSX in and do a "dual boot" thing and boot up on OS9 when I want to run Logic Silver? I have 512MB ram at the moment.
Thanks again fior replying
Davie

I've got a G4 dual (450Mhz) 1.5GB RAM. I have the Audiophile 2496 PCI card installed ( used mainly for digital in/out ) plus M-Audio USB MIDISport 8 x 8 midi interface box.

I also have LOGIC Silver 4.8.1 which ( of course ) will only run in OS 9. It works great. I refused to move up to LOGIC Express or PRO when Apple took over EMagic and would not give me an upgrade price reduction.

In addition to increasing your RAM I also recommend installing another drive. I've got 4 drives. The G4 has lots of room for installing drives and RAM. The original drive has both OS X and 9. One drive has TIGER the other has Panther and one drive has the original OS 9. I also use a FIREWIRE hard for AUDIO only.

Perhaps you could keep us up to date on what you decide to do.
