Hi,

I've bought an Imac G5 20" and Logic Pro 7. I have a Focusrite Trakmaster mic pre-amp and I need a audio interface with balanced ins and spdif. I don't need mic ins in the interface neither midi. I saw this Terratec Phase 24 firewire audio interface and it seems a good bet. But I'm not sure if Terratec is a good enough brand for semi-pro audio work. Do they have good converters, are the Mac drivers good enough, the build quality is good? I don´t know.
Does someone have an experience with Terratec products with Macs?

I would appreciate your help.

Best vibes

Alex

Hi,

I am new to MacMusic. I purchased a phase 24 last week, plugged it in, OSX recognized it so I proceeded to play some music using it. Sounded good. I went to get the control panel off of the cd. I discover there is no MAC folder. No problem, went to terratec site and download the Control Panel as well as the Firmware update tool and firmware update file.

I install the control panel no problem. I shut down and get back on later to install the firmware update. However, my G4 keeps asking me to restart, I thought I must have forgotten to take the CD out. I couldn't think of why that would cause the G4 to request a restart, but fine. That's not it, after the third try I unplug the Phase 24 from the firewire port. Bingo. Did anyone else observer this behavior?

I figure the firmware update must fix this. I unstuff the Update Tool, highlight the Phase 24, click the open button, browse to the firmware update file, however the tool has all files grayed out and won't let me select it. So I type the name in, hit the update button. Another window pops up, the Update Progress indow, stating it can't find the fiie.

Oh well, I'll have to live with unplugging and re-selecting it as my audio device for the next week or two. But now, it doesn't work. OSX still recognizes it but no sound comes out when I select it for any app or my main audio output.

Did either of you have these issues with the firmware update? I am running 10.3.8. The only thing I can think of is the update tool wiped some of the firmware before it decided it couldn't find the update file.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
