Okay I have a 15 - inch Powerbook G4 with Logic pro 6 and usually I boot the computer through the external HD. Well, this Saturday I went out and purchased the Yahama 01x mLan Production Studio. The o1x says it needs at least Mac OS 10.3 to operate the OS on my external HD is only 10.3. I am not a stickler to such details but my partner wanted to update the OS on the external HD to at least 10.3.6. When we tried to update the OS it did not work. It seems that we are not the only ones having this problem as I saw a few people with the same issue. Yet still I have not solution. So how can we update Mac OS 10.3 to something higher on our external HD?

www.macfixit.com has the answer. If i remember correctly, you must boot from the external hard drive and then run the 10.3.7 combo updater. If your external drive is now unbootable, you'll have to reinstall the OS from your original DVD first.
