Do you use Airport? If not, try disabling it and see if you still get crashes.

Problem solved. It turned out that a program called "Detour" by Rogue Aoeba Software, Inc. was causing the problem. They helped me immediatley to work around the problem and then came out with a patch for "Detour" the very next day!
