Wow, thanks for replying, it's tough to get a reply here.
1. I use windows XP and have installed driver - US428_Win2k_Install_3_09.exe which it's supposed to work for XP as well, at least that's what the site says.
2. About the volumes I've got all that, everything is set for it to be working, including the preferences for Cool Edit. When I use Propellerhead's Reason with the US-428 it works fine although the play, stop, rec, forward buttons are not working, the rewind works fine, but not the others, this is when setting them up to be used in the mixer.
Do you have any idea of what could be happening here?
It should record the instruments directly into Cool Edit right? Or have I been missinformed when I was told I could record instruments with the mixer?
Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Zenpill, Not sure if you noticed that this site is called "MacMusic". It is so because it is a site dedicated to music on the apple macintosh platform. So you will find most users here will not be able to give you much help as they are using the Mac OS 9 or OS X and not windows XP. You may find a couple of users here who use both Mac and Windows platforms so you may be lucky, however you will probably have more luck somewhere like http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pc-audio/Cool Edit is not available for mac. Goodluck
