Hi, I don't use the us122 but I have an AKG 3000b which I use for recording vocals and acoustic instruments with decent results, I'm no pro at this recording lark myself but the mic was reasonably cheap (£150ish) and seems to be a good starting block. I got mine from sound control who always seem to have a deal on for them but I have seen them advertised in a few places for this price, give or take £5, e.g. dolphinmusic. By the way it needs phantom power so make sure you have it swiched on (if there is an option???) or it wont work and will cause at least 10 minutes of wasted time checking cables input settings etc. Hope this is of help
