I have just downloaded the Logic 5.5 update for OSX and everything is fine except that I can't get the EXSP24 working. I know that VSTs don't work in OSX (I think?) but I have been told that the EXSP24 isn't a true VST? Does this mean that I can use it with OSX? I have tried to install it but it just keeps automatically starting OS9 up......
Any ideas, or am I just being really stupid? Thanks, J |

EXS24 is not a VST, it's part of Logic. BUT!
But you have to pay to use it and authorize it. I'd look along that track -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

The EXSP24 is a VST-plugin to be used with any VST-compatible software (NOT Logic under OS X - if they will make an Audio Unit version of it, or if you can find a VST - > AU converter, it would work. Emagic says they have had plans to make it AU, but we´re still waiting...)
The EXS24 is not VST. It´ s a sampler built in Logic and requires that you buy it and they give you the authorization code. It works under OS X just like Logic 5.5. EXS24 is a sampler and costs more than EXSP24, which is a sample player. Hope this helps. |

There is an upgrade path from EXSP24 to EXS24. I don´t know how much is it, I reckon some 100-200€ or more.
There are also other sample players/scaled down versions of samplers like the Native Instruments Kompakt, but I have no experience of that. |

The word is that AU versions will be coming, when? who knows.
Email your Emagic distributer, they send you a 12 week temporary code for the EXS24mkII, and EVP88. Hopefully the AUs will arrive before 12 weeks. -------------------- G-Dub

Are you saying that EXSP24 owners get a free 12 weeks code for the EXS24?! That would be great.
Hopefully they will eventually make the AU versions |

YES! check out the forums at http://www.osxaudio.com http://groups.yahoo.com/group/exs-users I had most of my sample collection in VSamp, and I was using it in OS9 with Cubase5. Its available in OSX as a VSTi & AU. I picked up the Big Box last September so I didn't have time to become dependent on the EXSP before the OSX version came out. I just continued to work in OSX using VSamp since it was already paid for. Hopefully this means we will see AU version within the 12 weeks. -------------------- G-Dub

Nuksu the EXS24 doesn't sample, it can import more sample formats, and it supports higher sample rates. The EXS editor is built into Logic, I had started to convert my hardware sampler, collection to .exs format. -------------------- G-Dub
