Save Shela - Get Your Name On Her Debut AlbumIt's really amazing how easy it is to record your own music at home. As much as technology has put so many people out of work and continues to add to the destruction of the environment, it has introduced an incredible amount of positive things into our society as well. At the same time, there are a lot of issues you can run into if you're recording at home. It's easier than it once was, but easier said than done. Which software do you choose? Is your computer good enough? Are you going to work with midi or audio or both? (And why do these 3 Access is Denied javascript error messages keep popping up!? eep, that's annoying). I'm an aspiring musician and have been waiting patiently to build up my system properly and go about this the right way .....as to not invest in crap. Plus, even though it's easier and less expensive to record at home, it still is quite expensive to get decent equipment and software. (Software is, of course, available for free .....but it depends on where you stand on that issue) Plus, once you have your own music, who is going to listen? The industry is huge. Even though this is the road I'm heading down, I understand what it's like for so many other musicians. That is why I created an Indie (as in Independent ....not a genre ....but not signed and backed by money) Spotlight on my website. (In my profile if you're interested). I listen to a lot of bands that aren't played on mainstream radio very often. Beulah, The Shins, Neutral Milk Hotel, Pedro The Lion, The Stars, Pinback ...etc ....and I am still amazed that such talent goes unnoticed by the majority of the population. I mean, I'm not naive, I know why ....but it's really a shame. It is much easier for good music to be heard through the Internet, though. I'm so grateful for this. I have discovered a lot of the music I listen to from places like Napster (R.I.P.). That topic is pretty controversial. I'm torn, myself. Anyway .....I'll stop rambling before I write a novel here. I'll just quickly mention that if you do have your own mp3s, check out my site. I'm trying to promote as many people as possible. Not much is in it for me ....except traffic to my site ....but I'm not charging musicians. Thanks for listening ....er reading. ...if you made it this far. shela ... Oh cool ....I just noticed I can post a link. I wasn't sure if that was considered promoting my personal site ....hope I'm not breaking any rules here. Great forum, by the way!

Ah ...well, I didn't know if the confusion was related to my ramble-post or my website, good fellow. Now, I guess if one was to dumb-down my website, then yes ....that is what it's about partially. However, there is a lot more on that site than asking for money in exchange for your name appearing in the linernotes of my debut album. Particularly, as my initial post was mentioning, if you click on the "mp3er" link in the "musicians" section, you'll find an Independent musician featured each week. Now, here, I am not asking for a dollar. I am simply asking for bands/artists to send me their mp3s, a bio, an image and a link to their website (if they have one) and I will put them in the spotlight for one week. Should you require more of an explanation, I shall be quite pleased to elaborate further. shela ... P.S. Are the moderators aware of these funny little annoying javascript errors that pop up every time a page refreshes or if I travel to another page? "Run Time Error. Line 8. Access is denied". Just thought I'd mention them again because they are a tad annoying. There goes one now.

P.S. If you read the blurb on the main page or the "hello" section, it explains what exaca-tically the site is about. ta. s.
