I'm not entirely sure how Logic does it, but in Digital Performer, when it says you're using Audio 1-2 or 3-4, it means you're utilizing 2 channels/inputs as stereo inputs, one as a left & one as a right channel. I'm not sure how one would do it in Logic (never had the chance to play with it at all, stuck with DP here at Berklee), but in DP you just create new MONO audio bundles instead of a stereo audio bundle, & enable those as the recording channels/inputs. hope this helps!
