firstly, sorry for this nerdy thread! i've used macs' for almost 15 years, i never, before today, bought a 3rd party mouse! i just bought a macally optical mouse with three programmable buttons and a scroll wheel(that can open my browser etc by depressing it). now i truly understand pc users' scorn re the apple mouse! i've had 2 apple pro mice die on me within a 12 month period due to bad design, this time i chose a 3rd party mouse. consequently, i spend about 50% less time clicking on my screen, scrolling, launching apps etc. i depress the scroll wheel to open my browser, scroll pages/windows with the wheel, have assigned my most laboriously repetitive keyboard commands to button presses. it's a whole new world! this is a boring post, but nowhere near as boring as using an apple mouse! make your next mouse purchace an intelligent mouse, seems like nothing but is effectively substantial advice ...

QUOTE (damann @ Nov 24 2002, 03:00) this is a boring post... The hell it is! It's only little happy gems like this that make the other 93% (buggy software, buggy operating systems, crashes, workarounds, documentation by orangutans, spooky, meaningless "error messages" with lots of numbers, MIDI, CPU overloads, hard drive seizures, lost creations, code abusers, UPS ground, gougeware, beta drivers, dongle-danglers and clean reinstalls) even bearable at all!
