Hi, I hope my topic will be understantable (english isn't my first language and the last time I used music program (Cakewalk) was about 8 year ago) A few day ago I bought my first in my life Mac and yestarday I started an adventure with Logic. As always begings are hard. I want to create my first project by using piano roll, but I do something wrong, bacause it doesn't work. When I create new project I choose "External MIDI". I do this because it's only place where I can see instruments which I want to use (piano, bass, drums etc.). But when I choose any of instruments and I use a piano roll (now I don't have any external MIDI keyboard and it's why I use an internal piano in Logic) I can't hear anything. When I, for example, choose loops it's ok, but when I add this to my project and press "play" I can't hear anything again. Could you tell me what first step I must do? Which kind of project choose to do what I want, that is put note after note in piano roll and of course hear it? By the way, do you know how to use sf2 files in Logic? Thanks for any help.

You must read Logic support documentation when undertaking DAW projects. (supplied with Program) If you rely on being spoonfed your progress will be slow and painful. There are many books , DVD's , and even youtube tutorials on Logic in your language. There are also Logic User Forums whereby you can join specific topic postings. I also was new to DAW until two years ago , and I have found progress to be more productive when you bite the bullet and get on with it yourself. If you are using your laptop only , go to preferances , and use built in audio so you can get started.Don't rely on others when you can do it yourself...you can do it..especially with such a user friendly program such as logic. You may also get joy out of Garageband. Apple are the market leaders in DAW research and development. Good Luck

tweedmusic, thanks you encourage me. Unfortunatelly I'm a little frustrated, because I was quite good at Cakewalk (but it was 8 years ago) and when I decided to return to computer as an instrument I stay in front of a high wall. Mac is totaly new for me too. It is why I try to take a short cut. I know that I must study books very hard and experiment too, but now I'd like to enjoy Mac and Logic just for a while, just at the begining like a toy or so .

tweedmusic, dasasuol, it works! I made stupid mistake, because I chose "External MIDI". It's strange because I used other project too and I really don't know why didn't one of them worked later. Nevermid. At last I made my first "song" on Mac! Now I can enjoy it and... gather other questions. Thanks!
PS. "have fun fun fun in the autoban !!!". You mean Kraftwerk or this great arrangement of Senor Coconut?

Yes, even at the begining Logic looks better then every music programm I've every used. I hope I'll be enough patient to study it. By the way, do you know how to resolve problem of a sf2 files that consist of some sounds? I've heard Logic have a problem with them and play only first sound of a set. PS. If you don't know Kraftwerk's "Autobahn" arranged by Senor Coconut you must listen to it. It will be better background to a view of falling coconuts than cold Kraftwerk's sound.
