I have a whole load of floppy disks with cubase score .arr and .prt files on them. Is there a way I can get them into Logic Express?
I know I can save them as midi files, which have done for the single pieces. But is there a way I can get the arrangements across. Some of these have 30 + tracks, I would prefer not to lose the timelines of the tracks if possible.

First thing, have you a mean to read the floppies?

You can always copy them on a CD on another PC, else there are USB external floppy readers but as it may be the only use you'll have for it, it's better to squat a PC you have around.

On the file compatibility I can't tell you sad.gif

I think I may be on to a loser here,
I used a usb floppy as lepetitmartien suggested to get them on the Mac, but don't think I have a decent way of get the .arr into LE.

I would be happy to upgrade to Pro if it would fix the situation but I don't think it helps.

I may be I just have to create midi files of every track and then import them into LE.
Here's looking forward to days of putting the arrangements back together :-)

That's a tough one, the only way I think is to export midi files.

The steinberg products have changed file formats so many times, that their newer products probably can't import them.

That was also before they implemented OMF import export. If you want want those sessions you will have to find an old Steinberg product possibly on ebay.

Before I left OS8, OS9 I exported all of my cubase VST sessions as midi, and audio.

Yup, I was dreading the MIDI files too… ooch or eventually OMF…

One day, we will have a common session interchange format… without the headaches… sad.gif
