I am not sure there is a way outside of using the Archive and Install option to get all your apps back in place. If all you have deleted is the Audio/Midi Setup.app package and you have another computer running OS X of the same version you might be able to drag copy/install a copy of Audio/Midi Setup from that computer to yours. If all the Core Audio components are still installed, all you are missing is the GUI front end to control them...

If you are not running the latest version of the OS, (i.e., prev to 10.4.5 or 10.3.7) you should be able to simply install a combo update which may be able to replace the set up utility (may be, unsure if it is in the intsaller package or not).

Sorry not to have better news. Good luck. Careful with those key strokes in the future.

peace

Indeed you can either just restore the app from a backup (you do make regular backups, right?!) or install OS X from the installation cd/dvd again but it's NOT necessary to do an archive and install, just do an "upgrade". Remember afterwards to re-run software update.
