I record my self playing bass and guitar, then add the seperate tracks, plus a drum track, into Protools free so I can synchronize and mix them. Does protools free have some sort of limitation to 1 second increments? e.g. I want the drum track to start 1.4 seconds after the guitar, but I can only get it to start 1 second or 2 seconds later. Also, how long does "Bouncing" usually take?

First of all , seems like a little manual reading could help (you can download the PDF version at www.digidesign.com->support->download).
Now... no there is no such limitation. There are several ways to do that. In grid mode, set the grid indicator (upper middle of the edit window) to whatever value (1 sec, 10ms, 1ms... 1 bar, 1/2 bar...1/64bar) ,grab the region and put it where you want it. You can also set the nudge indicator (just under the grid) to the value you wish to use, select the region and then hit + or - on the numeric keypad. To do this even more precisely: check spot mode ( BTW spot, grid, slip and shuffle modes are available in the upper left in the edit window), clic on the region using the grabber (hand shaped selector), a dialogue box will appear asking you to enter the precise location you wish to send your region to. A simple and easy (but not always precise->depending on the zoom setting) way to do this is to get in Slip mode and grab the region to the location you want it to be...just watch the time display (upper middle of the edit window) that will indicate you where the region is while you're moving it. Enjoy and read the manual... -------------------- |
