I’m currently trying to get a system running with OSX 10.4.4, Protools 7 and ActiveDirectory authentication.

- I have installed Protools 7 as a local admin and can run it fine.
- I can create a non admin user and run Protools fine.
- I have copied that user into the Usertemplate and can create other identical local users, all of whom can run Protools
- If I try to use a domain user account Protools starts to load and gets all the way through to “Creating DAE Objects” when up pops “Unable to locate Digidesign Hardware. Make sure your hardware is connected and turned on. Click “OK” when the hardware is ready.”

Now the hardware is definitely connected, and if I launch any of the other music apps the Digi CoreAudio Manager loads and I get sound. I figure this has to be a file permissions issue, but am at a loss to figure out where. I tried giving rights to all users over App Support and Preference directories but to no avail. Even tried it for the Digidesign App directory. Any suggestions welcomed.......

Check with your system administrator whether there are any Active Directory Group Policies preventing access to devices or installing applications and BTW, this is meant to be a Mac Music site. Not really a good place to get windoze answers wink.gif

This problem has been fixed in Protools 7.1cs7 and was caused by the UID given out by Active Directory being outside the range that Protools would accept, all is good now.
BTW Stergz we are running 60 Macs with ProtoolsLE that authenticate to an Active Directory server so you will appreciate that this was Protools on Mac issue. We still have to survive in a windows dominated world.

Mixed environment issues are all right, it's windows only problems that are not legit. cool.gif
