Maybe they licensed it? I have no idea what you're trying to say though.

For our non-US friends-
On our cable TV there is a channel called 'Cartoon Network.' At night, after the kiddies are in bed, they air more adult-themed cartoons during a time segment called 'Adult Swim.' They try very hard to be cool and hip by having creative art and graphics and music features very prominently. My favorite show is called 'The Venture Brothers' and features music by Foetus. In between shows, they have small vignettes with clever advertising called 'bumps.' During these bumps, they feature DJs, remixers, or short pieces of less-mainstream music. Our friend seems to be upset over Aphex Twin being used, but since this is a nationally syndicated television channel, probably owned by some massive multi-national media conglomerate, I would assume that they get clearance (plus perhaps a bit of $) for everything. If not, Aphex Twin should sue and become the owner of a major media outlet. Either way, we win.

YO! Relax. I used to do all of the music for Toonami and I can guarantee that if it is the track you say, they licensed it. It's not like they don't have the skrilla. $$$ As far as ripping it off, that isn't unheard of either, as Turner paid me to rip off tracks all the time. I just made sure they were different enough to not be recognized as the original track. More like copying the "feel" of a track, not the melody. FEEL THIS! BASS IN YOUR FACE! jbv

QUOTE (jbvmusic @ Feb 23 2006, 21:58) I can guarantee that if it is the track you say, they licensed it. I'm sure that is the case. Big companies are very careful. Besides, if it is not a commercial (and does not include any pornography, religious or political material) they can use it without permission by just paying the normal copyright control fees. That's the way it works in Europe at least.
