i dont worry about track markers that much any more, (since i really dont dj anylonger) though i belive this can be done in Pro Tools, Ardour, really any DAW. The way that i use to add track markers in my mixes without haveing to worry about pause is through a MiniDisc recorder. It worked very to say the least. Hope i added some insight.

QUOTE i dont worry about track markers that much any more That's not the point???? The point is.....Hamish does worry about them...ad rightly so...there's nothing more annoying than a mix tape that has to be fast forwarded for 20 mins just to find a hot spot.... Emagic Waveburner...../ Stberg Wavelab / Sonic foundry sound forge ....and many other DAW and CD burning pakage's will help you create the CD you want Hamish.... Pay attention to "Red book" and "Orange book" mastering.... in a nut shell....it turns all your tracks into one long audio file...... if it's a mix tape that's already done...lol! but if you're ceating an album and you want your tune's to cross head to tail slightly....this is the way to do it.... now I hop that helps .... Bloody amature's and minidisks..... he didn't ask...."How do I get my mix's to sound flatter....less clear.....compressed...and irriversabley crap.... S.F.Selecta.... mate...only joking.... no hard feelings....

There are definitely some shareware apps that do this. If you get hold of Roxio Toast, there's an additional app in the bundle called CD Spin Doctor, which allows you to place your own markers at track separations before sending the tracks to Toast. It's meant to be able to guess at dividers, although I think it just uses quiet bits as a marker so if your mixing proficiency is up to anything it won't work. I belive v. 7 features Spin Doctor as a dashboard widget...
