Does anyone have experience or know of a good Macintosh loop-based program that is similar to ACID? I've tried the demos for Phrazer (heinous interface), Live (hard to understand) and reCycle and phatmatik pro (which are cool, but make you slice up the samples yourself).

or

has anyone used a PC emulator with ACID with any success?

Try "Live" by Ableton

http://www.ableton.com/

It is very cool, great interface and very easy to use.
It supports Rewire so you can integrate it with Logic or Cubase.
it works on Mac (both OS 9 and OS X) and PC.

You can download a demo from their website.
It works for 30 minutes fully functional except no saving is disabled.
