Are the pieces really busy with notes? Are you sure the midisport sends/received a clean MIDI signal? Are there other USB peripherals save keyboard/mouse/logic key? How is the midisport attached to the mac? Directly, thru a hub… ?

The pieces are not overly busy with notes. Usually/typically consists of a basic drum beat with numerous repeated bars plus a few fills, a fairly rhythmic bass line, piano part and usually some simple wind and string parts for a school to play (often sustained notes). Its not as if everybody's playing thousands of semiquavers.
The midisport is connnected to one of the main usb ports on rear of G4. No other usb peripherals. G4 has an audiowerk PCI card.
I don't know how to be sure midisport is sending/receiving clean midi signal.
Cheers, B.

My personal solution is to hook up a Nord Modular to a supposed noisy interface. If it's noisy, the modular will behave strangely… A friend had a now old m-audio interface which could play note with noise all by itself It can't be the busyness of the track, so: - Noise (I've never had to look after that save with Nord Modular which are s…s for the quality of the MIDI signal, maybe there's a way to record the output and compare). - Something in the USB, not peripherals but the ports… try to move the plug to the other port (ideal would be a USB PCI card to check thru it) - Something fishy in software, though I don't see why… - the cables, have you checked them? Does the problem just came in? Or is it nothing new? If it's a newcomer, i'd look after the drivers…

DAW = Digital Audio Workstation software, e.g Metro, Logic, Performer, Cubase, etc, etc, Some of these programs have demos so you do not need to purchase anything.
