I'm having problems with core midi, I'm using Logic 6 Gold edition in a Powerbook with OSX 10.3.9 Some how, some way core midi ends up not working at all. I've tried reinstalling OSX, reinstalling Logic and deleting a demo that I had of Protools M-powered. I know there have been some issues with this version of Protools and core midi. Maybe there are some files I haven't deleted because there some where in "preferences". Any idea if this might be the problem, any idea which are the files?
Thanks for your help, J. |

Can you describe your problem in a bit more detail than it's "not working at all".
What MIDI hardware are you using? What are you trying to control via MIDI e.g. external synthesizes, virtual synths etc... Do you know how to use Logic Gold or are you just starting out? |

Right, I've been using Logic for 2 years now, I had no problems with previous updates of Panther (OS X 10.3.). Now when I open logic I get this message: "Mac OS X Midi services not available". Im trying to connect via USB an Edirol PCR-50 Midi keyboard. I have the same problem with "midi services" when I open Reason. I use a M-Audio Firewire 410 audio interface.
As I mentioned before I understand there are certain issues with Protools M-Powered (Demo version), something along the lines of removing certain files of a folder. I tried finding the files but I could not spot them. Thanks for your help, J. |

hey there,
I've had this same problem before as i use Logic(7.1) and have a fw 410. I'm assuming you haven't already re-installed your drivers. So, You need to Uninstall your audio and MIDI drivers then reboot. Then re-install your drivers. the M-audio driver gives problems sometimes, especially with MIDI. Also, make sure you have all the latest drivers that are compatible with 10.3.9 when you re-install. BTW, make sure that you don't have your audio/midi hardware connected to your computer when you re-install the drivers. Then reboot, then connect everything. should work after that. hope that helps, djwd40 |

Looks like the driver for your Edirol keyboard hasn't been updated since October 2003

I've also seen a similar problem with an M-Audio "Firewire Solo". Installing the latest driver fixed the problem. Try downloading the latest driver for the Firewire 410 http://m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.drivers This post has been edited by formatj: Sat 20 Aug 2005, 00:36 |

Hey I just came in from a night out and I'm happy to see that there might be hope
Right I'll try uninstalling all M-audio drivers and reinstalling, restarting and hopefully it will work. This I'll do tomorrow, now I can only think about getting some sleep. Thanks Formatdj and djwd40 for your valuable help. J. |
