Anyone here interested in starting a petition to encourage Apple to make Garageband 24-bit capable?
I am a semi-pro musician who loves the speed at which I can work in this program. The GUI makes it a creativity enabler. Anyone here concur? (For the record I'm well-versed in Cubase SX and own Logic although I rarely use them anymore) All we need is that 24-bit pro quality. 24-bit sound would seal the deal for me. I guess Apple needs to make money on Pro vs. iLife pricing, so lets say standalone Garageband 24-bit for $499? Either that or give this GUI to Logic Express. I run a small studio and multi-track with a MkII 828 so it's not like I need the gazzillion advanced options of programs like Logic and Cubase. This program is what I have been dreaming about. Honestly, even at 16-bit, I will be releasing music made in this program because of the type of creativity it has fostered. I'm one of those artists who prefers 'feel' over 'perfection'. |

Wow. I think you may be in the minority--$499 seems like a large amount of money for a self-described "semi-pro" to spend on software.
I suppose it's not out of the question that a 24-bit GarageBand could be in the works, but I suspect that Apple's intention with GarageBand is to suck people in with its power and simplicity, and then get them hooked. It certainly worked for me--I was a ProTools LE with Live 3 rewired into it user until I started playing with GarageBand. Now I'm a confirmed Logic Pro user. |

You´re absolutely raight. It is too much for a bunch of "regular" sounds and a cool interface. Besides all troubles and bugs....Logic Pro is my favorite too.
By the way, I am having some problems with sounds in EXS, they seem to disappear and it says " Sorry, Piano FM.aiff (or anything) could not be found..." And of course it is a pain in the back when that happens. Anybody knows what to do in those cases...? Thanks in advance. Speed, in music, is not of the essence..... |

I'm with you on this one! I would like only two features added to GarageBand3. First, of course... 24-bit capability. Second, I would love to be able to overdub on sequencing tracks, like a drum machine style sequencer. Thats all. Otherwise, I love this little app. It sounds great! I'd sign a petition for sure.
