I have yet to get to the 'Mixing' stage, but what with all these soft synths and everything and being able to create everything on our Macs do I need a mixer/hardware?
Can I get a mixer in software? and will I only need monitors then?

I am only using a MOTU FastLane at the moment but is there a mixer built into gear like the MOTU 828 or the new MOTU Traveller?
Thanks.

Yes, there is a mixer built into the 828 (and I assume the Traveler). Both virtual and real. The 828 comes with a program called Ausio Desk,,, It seems to be a pretty good mastering suite. Also it comes with a progam called CueMix Console, that would be the virtual mixer. I am not shure if the Taveler comes with this, but I would assume that it does.

Then all you would need is monitors (connected directly to the audio interface (828, travler)).
