I've heard that ProTools LE won't run on OS X or in the Classic Environment. But, I'm having trouble finding any documentation on what to do about this exactly. I guess it is possible to Dual Boot, but I can't find instructions on how to set up.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

It won't run in classic or X until Digi will realease an update. point.

If you wan't to use it boot under MacOS 9 with the control pannel startup, configure, battle with OMS, burn your house, whatever.

It'll work (maybe wink.gif

X, wait for Digi to make a move… someday…smile.gif

(BTW, if you use only X, I'd say install on an other partition, a brand new OS9 unpolluted by X to use only with audio/midi, to keep thing clean and tight)

Yes, thank you. That's what I mean. How do I do that exactly? Are there any docs out there on the procedure. I'm a PC guy, so I don't know where to do anything like that.

For the OS9 system, you must have (you can do without but it's not good practice) a partition to install it other than the X partition

Just put the mac OS 9 install cd in the cd player, click on install and the follow the reading. It's that simple. tell him to install on the partition BTW. smile.gif
pay attention that there are at least an update to the current OS9.2 (9.22) so install it before rebooting from the 9 partition.

(Apple interfaces are clear and intuitive except the selector for printers and sharing…)

After the install, at the first bootup from the brand new OS9 an assistant will help you configure a few things.

To bootup from the OS9 : go to system control panel and click on the system you want to start up with and reboot.

Now clean up in the system, the better would be to give me the complete list of extensions and control pannel from the installed 9 so that I can give you a streamlined one that works. just tell me if you need : net, printing, CD burning. Use the Apple system info that you can reach at the apple menu to process the list.

after this you can install OMS first, then Digi and the rest.

For the config of OMS… I'm not the great Mojoh for it, others here can help you but for the moment you have plenty to work with. smile.gif

absolutely lepetitmartien,
even if you only have one hard drive, partition it and install 9.2 on one partition.
