I am trying to upload my songs to a website called download.com (You should check it out, a great place to show case your tunes and download other unsigned artist material for free!) But in order to upload my songs they must fit the following criteria:
Your audio materials must be stereo MP3 files and encoded at 192Kpbs and at a sample rate of 44KHz Does anyone know how I can convert my mac song files in to MP3? Any help would be greatly appretiated. Oh and Im not planning on spending any more money on conversion software... free or shareware would be great! Thanks AngryMan -------------------- |

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
download this and I believe you also must download a free LAME encoder module (http://spaghetticode.org/lame/) and you will have a free mp3 encoder Scott |

Why not use the converter in iTunes?

Some would argue that the LAME encoder is a better encoder than the built in itunes one.

Go into the iTunes Preferences menu - click on the importing tab and make sure the MP3 Encoder is selected under "Import Using". This is also the place you can set the encoder for 192kbps. If the song file is already sitting in your iTunes library, just right click the file name and choose "Convert Selection to MP3".
