Is it possible to hook up two Mbox's to one computer to record as 4 tracks in protools LE.

I have used two laptops to record a basic 4 track band demo. and imported the files into one session with no synch problems or phase cancellation.

but was wondering if possible to have 2 hooked to one machine.

That is a very good question, I have been wondering the same thing myself. I am going to put it to the test with my mBox and my friends, I will post back to let you know how it goes. If anyone else has done this, please let us know. I do know back on the Digi 001 it was possible to use two 001's. We'll have to see about mBox, ( it would be nice. )

And the answer is ... no angry.gif I hooked up two mBoxes, launch PTLE, only one mBox lights up the "USB" led indicator, only one mBox shows in IO setup also. I did not however, test it using Core Audio w/ another program (Logic, for example). It was worth a try.

didn't think you could do it. Of course Digidesign would never make anything that flexible! Look at how "open-ended" Pro Tools is! I have gone to Logic Pro, but am still dealing with that blasted Mbox. Man I gotta get something better. wink.gif

Use Digidesign's upgrade system to trade your MBox for an 002Rack. I think they're only 899 or something like that when you use their system.

I wasnt sure it could of been done but was worth a shot.

I am currently happy with my Mbox and PT LE, I find it easy to use and sound quality "very good".
