Hello I am a new mac musician.
For the past 10 years I've been dabbling with MIDI on my old Amiga. also fooled around with arranging scores and such. I've only recently got into music on my mac, and am new to what software and hardware is available for me to get into. I HAVE no idea what programs are available for my Mac. I am mainly interested in playing my midi keyboard into my mac, recording simple tracks into some sort of scoring program. I'd like to compose, arrange, and alter sheet music as well. and wonder if there any good programs for sampling too. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am glad to have found this site! lz3broc |

check out audiomidi.com and harmonycentral.com for pretty good info.
What you get may depend on what hardware you already have. Also, it matters if you have to exchange files with anyone on cooperative works. |

my G4/400 desktop does not seem to be compatible to the MIDI hookup I had on the Amiga...seems to need some sort of 9pin serial plug.
Someone mentioned getting a USB MIDI controller, and wondered if there is one that good enough for the G4. Others have mentioned to me some keyboards with USB MIDI inside already, that sounds like it would be nice...since my old MIDI keyboard was very used and cheap when I got it. |
