I'm a semi-pro who does solo gigs on the weekends. I sing and play guitar and have a rather large and heavy midi-rack which provides the all the other music.
What I would like to do is turn my midi files into MP3s, and and then I would only need to take my Powerbook and a small mixer with me to the Gigs. Is there some OSX software available that is suitable for live performance and can play MP3s? I'm specifically looking for the following features: 1.) Ability to create set lists for each set 2.) Ability to Cue the next song in the list. 3.) Ability for the software to NOT automatically play the next song until a key is pressed. 4.) Ability to have hot keys (like the arrows) so that you could jump around the list if you want. 5.) Free (just kidding... ) Anyone have any ideas? hey bguzik,
The free software mp3 player you are looking for is called iTunes! It fills most of YOUR requirements and you might be able to use some other hot key freeware/shareware to make up your key shortcuts. But I don't really think a specific application exists for this and MP3s are pretty crappy in terms of quality for a live performance. But really, use iTunes, it is the best FREE mp3 player for the Mac and PC? You could sample Panic's Audion, $30, and see if that floats your crazy live mp3 playing boat! http://www.panic.com -------------------- Ableton Live 4.1
