Hey all. I'm having probs with my 2496 Audiophile MIDI, so I'm looking into picking up a MOTU USB MIDI Fastlane. It's got 2 ports and is USB 1.1 compatible. I'm hooking it up to the other USB port on my G4. Does anyone have experiences with this device? Good or bad? (If bad, do you have other solutions?)

Thanks!

Yeah, the Fastlane works great. I have mine hooked up to an Access Virus KB and a Triton Pro-X, it has always performed really well. The little MIDI-through button is great, too. If I want to control the virus via the Triton without using a software sequencer, I just swap the outputs and hit the "thru" button, thus enabling a quick and easily reversible workaround that doesn't require disassembly of the studio. smile.gif

One thing: make sure you have the up-to-date driver from MOTU (as one always should), if I remember correctly the driver that shipped with my Fastlane wasn't very friendly when I upgraded to Panther, but they released a corrected one right away.

I've also used my fastlane on a friend's PC, worked great in that setting, as well.....

I got a Fastlane recently, and the drivers that came with it worked flawlessly with Panther.. I'M running a Alesis nanosynth and a Yamaha VL-70m coupled with a Yamaha WX5 with no complaints whatsoever.

I have used Fastlane for a few years now, I agree with everyone else, it just works, and on OS9 I definitely preferred the included FreeMidi Software to OMS...(no problems with OS X either, easier to set up than in 9).
