To transfer files, there is also the ethernet option. You need to connect the two machines with an ethernet cable. If you want to transfer files from the Mac to the PC, you have to assing an IP address for your MAC at the TCP/IP control panel, and choose ethernet from the pop up menu. (Ethernet extension must be enabled). On your PC you can 'call' the Macintosh via RUN (at the Start button), writing there the ip address you assigned the mac. You have to do something else in the File sharing control panel. This is all explained in detail at: http://machardware.about.com/compute/macha...g/quicknet.htmlhope that helps!

Hi, I've done this using PC Maclan. It's not very difficult, but keep in mind that if you're connecting two machines directly you'll need an ethernet crossover cable, rather than the regular ethernet cable you'd use to connect to a network. The demo version of PC Maclan is pretty functional, so you might as well try it out.
Another thing to keep in mind is that any networking will require the use of AppleTalk, which will not work at the same time as OMS, so for music applications a sneakernet solution (two zip drives, cd burners?) might be necessary anyway. Now if I've made a mistake with that point please correct me, as I'm looking for a better solution myself. Any experience with DAVE or MacSOHO? I was thinking this might serve me somewhat better, since it's easier on the Mac (and somewhat necessary) to boot into different cofigurations, for networking, gaming, midi, etc.
I have a question about connecting the two machines via midi, but I think that deserves it's own thread.
