I'm using SampleTank 2 XL RTAS on a ProTools LE 6.1.2, PowerMac G4 dual processor 1.25GHZ, 768MB RAM. OSX 10.2.latest. My problem is that when I have just about 8 to 10 midi track that run into ST2XL and just one audio track (no other plug-ins), the processors overload, even if the playback engine has a 1024 samples buffer (the largest available in ProTools). Is this normal or not? Do you think that buying some more RAM should help my system achieve a better performance? Or do I have to go G5...(which is not in my plans for now) Thanks a lot for any enlightment!

The problem is most likely that Sampletank 2 has separate effects on all different channels. These eats up a lot of processing. I do not know pro-tools but you should be able to route all channels that have reverb on them to a separate output and then put a different reverb plug-in on that output and then turn off all of the reverbs in ST2 on separate channels. This will give you a very big performance boost.

Your suggestion was very good, Metro SE, actually I almost halved the processor load. Thanx a lot
