Are you connecting your MIDI Keyboard via USB or through an interface?

Is GarageBand set-up to use that interface as the input source? Note that GarageBand's input/output preferences are independent of OS X's.

Both input and output are set up for the DIGI hardware using the core audio drivers. The DIGI will see a signal but the mic levels etc are all inaccurate and I cannot make GB see the DIGI or the my YAMAHA connectded to it as a midi input. GB detects no MIDI devices but the DIGI's midi-in light goes on.

Can you be a little more descriptive about your set up?

Set up is:

MAC PB 867mhz 768 RAM 40 gig HD Panther latest up to date. Latest DIGIDESIGN core audio driver installed

External 160 gig Firewire HD

DIGIDESIGN 002 R

Yamaha P-120 keyboard via MIDI out to DIGI 002 midi IN

Garage Band is set up and sees the DIGI via the Preferences and now I can record audio tracks BUT still no MIDI. I Have set-up MIDI via the Apple AMS manager. The 002 is present in the window but is grayed out.

Yesterday I checked another system using GB 1 and that recognized the DIGI midi set-up. I am going to try a re-install of the core audio driver today but I fear it may need an update from DIGIDESIGN to get this to work in GB 2 Thanks so much for your help

Well that's good that you have a model machine in which it works on. Let me know if the driver update didn't help.
