I have been using a m-audio firewire 410 for a while now and loving it. I use it for recording and audio output on my powerbook g4 1.5 GHz. When just the other day I tried to play a song in iTunes and nothing played. The weird thing is when I double click a song the progress bar does not move, kinda like if it were paused, but its not. So I tried to restart the computer which did nothing. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers, repaired permissions, and finally I tried a clean install of the OS. There is still no sound output from the firewire 410 at all, in any program. I also does not accept any midi data. The light on the front is solid blue which makes me think that the connection and hardware is fine but I don't know.
I have only tried the 1.5.3 osx driver, should I try using an older version? Or is that pointless? Any help is greatly appreciated. |

We need to know what os version you are running....if you are on 10.3.9, you need the 1.5 driver, not 1.53.
Make sure when you uninstall the firewire 410, you follow m-audios explicit instructions on this procedure. Same with reinstalling it...lots of restarting and shutting down etc., without the device actually connected. --Matt |

I am using 10.4.2, and I do believe that I followed the uninstall instructions. Just in case I am going to try an uninstall/reinstall one more time.
