Hi!

I'm getting into music creation for a while now, and i decided to go a step further and spend some money.
Till now, i was playing with reason, rewiring it to dp4 (with mach5). I have powerbook g4 1,25ghz, a m-audio firewire410, a midi synth, m-audio studiophile bx4 with subwoofer.
I'm thinking about getting a g5. In fact i'm gonna get it for sure.
So what i'm missing i guess, is a mixer and a controler.
I was thinking to get the yamaha 01x, but heard it has some compatibility problem with dp4.
1. But then, what should i do with my m-audio firewire410. Can i still make a use of it?
2a. Is the audio card better in the yamaha 01x?
2b. Is the yamaha01x or other controler controling the vst, audio unit…?
3. Are there different alternativ to the yamaha01x? Mackie…
4. what would you get?
5. what more am i missing in my "studio" to make it kind of complete?

Thank's a lot for your answer.

I am of the opposite opinion of the home studio affectiondos.... I have made more records as a producer and an engineer of audio than anyone has a right to. 35 years and going stronger.
The reason that I am so against the home studio has many faces. Isolation from collaboration is musical suicide. Your son needing help on his homework in the middle of your vocal performance/guitar solo performance is musical suicide. Your buddies coming over to smoke weed and hang out is musical suicide. You are missing hard, heartfelt contact with this newborn who hasn't even made it out of the musical womb, and he already has his umbilical cord around his neck ... and it is tightening. Isolation musically generally leads to your creation of something YOU may understand after hearing it over and over for days or weeks, but the buyer is going to decide within 30 seconds whether to buy into your concept or not. And you can't even be objective about that 30 seconds anymore. So you end up with musical self-gratification or musical JACKING OFF!! I LOVE to watch (hear) people jack off. Nothing I'd rather do. Except, say, steal toys from a six year old. DO YOU GET IT YET FOLKS????
