Hey guys, i'm new to music making and i'm looking to hook my synthesizer up to my macbook... The very intelligent people at Apple decided to NOT provide us with an line-in audio jack... So, I need a USB interface. I have a midi USB interface, and through hours of trying to figure things out I've come to the conclusion that in addition to midi, I need the audio to come through a different port. So, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a good, cheap interface?

What i'm looking for is to hook up both my guitar and microKorg synth to my computer for Logic.

I don't have any adapters for my guitar to change from 1/4" to 1/8", so it would be useful to have the interface right away with the 1/4/ but thats not necessary. For my synth, I do have an adapter that lets me put in a 1/8" audio line. I'm looking to be able to have the guitar and synth be able to be plugged in at the same time, obvs through different channels.. In conclusion I guess:

- USB audio interface compatable with Mac OS 10.8.2
- Have atleast 2 line-in channels
> I'm not expereinced so i'm not sure if that would translate to 2 output channels as well for each input, or just one output.. oh wait im using this on my computer so the output is going through the USB.... uh..

Ah, this is going to be a very confusing post.... But ok let me try again, THIS is what i want:
- Simultaneously have a port with my guitar, and another port with my synth.
- Be able to hear what i'm doing on my computer (with headphones obviously, since thats all that the audio jack can do)

I'm kind of confused too in a sense of anything overriding anything? Idk if thats a vlaid question.. you could jsut ignore it... anyways,

So, at this stage in my music hobby I don't need speakers but if i ever get that far - which hopefully i will - i will be playing live shows right. And now, thats a whole different story, im not sure if i should really be thinking about that but maybe i should... So taking that into consideration, i need to be able to hook shit up to the amps and speakers and im not sure wether thats gonna be from my macbook or from the usb itnerface.. probably from the interface or soemthing totally different since ill be using my macs audio output as headphones to hear what im doing... and then the final product will go somewhere.. else? hahahahaha ok thank you for reading if you stayed this long (: With everything put aside, i need a usb interface where i can connect my guitar and synth at the same time (through diff ports or whatever) and connect that to my ocmputer so that logic can actually hear FOR ONCE what I'm doing on my synth and/or guitar. Thankyou (:

And also, I have firewire cables and this one > http://www.cbserviceslondon.com/catalog/im...ABM10.large.jpg

the most basic of audio interfaces should fill your wish list.
there are so many.
look for stereo in and out, at least one mic preamp, headphone monitoring...
spend as much as you can, smart shopper-wise. your converters make a huge difference to your music.
good luck!
