Apparently eMagic is "in the process" of creating drivers for the Audiowerk cards, i.e. for OS X. They've been saying this for a year or whatever now, so don't hold your breath...
The good thing about the 2|6 would be that it is less hassle to transport between computers than a PCI card.

plus you can use it for a laptop I am about to get one for my tibook to use with Logic for live performances and may provide some recording services to bands at local pubs, giving them a cd of their live performance in less than 20 minutes after their set

Sorry to jump in on this one, but two friends of mine use the emi 2|6 and aren't too happy with it (using PC notebooks, might not apply for macs) - anyways, asio dropouts and other issues are plaguing them - it's pretty affordable, but to me that's about it. USB audio may have matured, but I wouldn't trust it for use on the road - RME HDSP Multiface + Cardbus combo is the way to go
