I'm looking for some software that will quickly allow me to see the harmonics of a given pitch. Ideally this software would show me the frequency of each harmonic present in a sample and its relative intensity of all present harmonics without having to select each harmonic individually to get the frequency and intensity. I have tried around 20 different packages with varying degrees of success.

Currently I am using Raven from Cornell Lab of Ornithology. It gives me all the information I need, but I have to select each harmonic individually to get the information exported - Even though it only takes about 5 minutes to map out about 60 harmonics for a given pitch, I have well over 1000 samples and am looking for a way to speed this process along a bit. I've been in touch with their support team, but their development cycle is a little slower than I would like.

I'm not an expert in sound analysis, but it seems that most programs keep track of all of the harmonics and their intensities (decibels), so I'm thinking it would be a short trip to automatically select all of them in a given instant and be able to put the data in a table format. It is only one pitch at a time and I'm not looking for averages over the entire sample (although that would be nice) but only in a given moment.

I'm working on a project comparing one saxophone player's sound playing on different mouthpieces and instruments to see the similarities and differences. I am also aware of most of the uncontrollable variables with this project

Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Check in the software link in the menu bar of the site, there must be some tools listed not far at least. (sorry no to be able to be more helpful, I don't know how long my internet connection will last, it's a mess for a few days now angry.gif

lepetitmartien,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately none of the software listed there fits exactly what I would like to do. Some are somewhat close though. I may have to persuade a software writer for the features I'm looking for. Thanks
