Greets - I'm a Logic 6.1.0 Platinum user on 10.3.9

I downloaded the Logic Pro version (that is, version 6.4.3) which is found via:

http://www.apple.com/support/emagic

but i get the msg "Logic has unexpextedly quit" every time i open it.

I went and downloaded Logic 6.3.1 .. but same story. Both of these led me throught the usual installer processes btw.
My previous versions of 6.0.1 and 6.1.0 still load up fine.

So, do these updates need to be 'linked' or 'recognized' by the previous versions
somehow?
Anyone had good/bad results from downlaods on the Emagic 'Legacy' page?

thanx if you can help

Need more info, what version of the OS are you using?

It's quite possible that if you have been updating your OS, a newer version may break Logic6.

I don't know the details but if you are running Tiger, some of the behind the scenes items have changed methods and/or location.

chances are you will have downgrade your OS, and lock it down once you have a stable setup.

i'm using panther (10.3.9)

but i first installed Logic6 on Jaguar (10.2.8), so maybe i should re-install everything on my current OS, I suppose it couldn't hurt, but i think i already did this once, so.. who knows?
thanx

will the 6.4.3 update work for platinum 6.1? I was under the impression it only worked for logic 6.4 (which is what I have/had). That might be your problem. But you'd think the installer program would be able to figure that out and tell you.

I think they wanted u to pay for the upgrade to the apple distributed logic Pro 6.4 before going to 6.4.3 (now they want u to go for logic 7 which i refuse to do until they fix some more the to %^&#@$* bugs in it smile.gif )

Also - yes Tiger does break 6.4.3 - a stupid little bug - logic crashes invariably when u open the metronome settings prefs. How stupid - sounds like a tiny patch could fix it... oh well. Its ok i guess if u never change your metro settings.

Well. I am just waiting at the mail box for the new Logic Pro 7.2 (I guess)
but reading what you all are telling....it is kind of terror film....I´ll wait till all those bugs are fixed.
The reason for waiting till now, coming from LP 6.4.3 on Panther OS 10.3.9 is the same that you seem to have... I guess that Apple is going to drive us all crazy with that prices and up-dates management.....
May be We should get back to the good old paper & pencil ..... angry.gif
