HI there
I have just managed to set up my midi controller keyboard into my mac (G5) for use with Ableton 5.2. It seems to work ok and with very little latency. However sometimes when I hit a key nothing comes out at all.
Any ideas what the problem might be ?
many thanks
Ed

Have you checked the velocity settings for the keyboard and the software?
If the lower boundary is set to >0 or the upper boundary is set to <127 there will be times when nothing is triggered (ie. when you hit the key at velocity above the upper bound or below the lower bound).

Also, check that keyboard 'Local On/Off' is set to 'Off' so that messages are only sent to the software, and not to the keyboard's tone generator directly.

Check your MIDI cable for loose connection.

Check your audio cables for loose connection.

Also, check the key range for the particular channel - make sure the range is set for the whole keyboard, not just a section of it.
