Hi everyone,

I bought a G4 1.67 GHz, 1GB SDRAM, 10.4.3 with Logic Pro 7.0.1. At first the processor had no problems playing over 50 audio tracks without any effects, using an Edirol UA - 25 and an external 400 firwire drive. Unfortuneatly it now has problems playing 35 audio tracks without any effects, an error message comes in logic saying 'core disc to slow'.

I have tried changing the settings in Audio Hardware and Drivers, such as the i/o buffer size, but these changes have not made much of a change.

Any help would be ace,

Cheers

What changed? Something almost certainly did, that's for sure. Are they the same 35 tracks taken from the original 50 you mention or 35 new tracks? When did you buy the machine? Did you get 50 tracks from new, but now two or three years later you're only getting 35? Are any of the tracks virtual instruments? What else do you use the computer for? Is there now less free space on the hard disk than there used to be?

More info needed, please.

(Don't forget the Freeze track option in Logic - helps your CPU out)

Hi ricken,

yeah they are the same 35 tracks, it is exactly the same logic session nothing extra has been added. I bought the machine about 5 months ago. None of the tracks are virtual instruments. The computer is mainly used for music editing, there is plenty of hard disk space 43.97 GB remains.

The Freeze function is extremely useful and does help with the problem. but im just confused as to wot has happen that results in the cpu overloading.

I was wondering if there was any 'optimizing' settings that you could reckonmend for the G4 that could help the problem.

Many thnaks,

Ben
