As noted above, I want to transfer some audiotapes to cds. I am using OS X on a dual g4 500 with 1 gig of ram. I have no idea about how I should do this. Do I need special software, hardware? I would also like to put these recordings into imusic3. I would appreciate any information you can give me.
Thanks much! H |

Here's what I would suggest:
1. First, figure out a way to get a line level into your Mac. Some newer Macs do NOT have an audio input jack (fortunately, Apple FINALLY seems to be adding them again!). You might need to buy a USB device of some kind. 2. Hook up a tape deck with a line out and use simple sound (OS9, or something else in OS9 or X) to record from your tape in stereo. Be sure to use CD quality settings. After recording, save your file (be sure to know where it's being saved). Your file will most like be saved as in ".aiff" format. 3. Use iTunes (or another application, if you prefer) to convert your ".aiff" file into MP3 format. After it's done and you've listened to be sure it's ok, trash the original file, since it's going to be pretty large. Good luck! |
