I AM USING LOGIC EXPRESS 7. I DECIDED TO STEP UP FROM GARAGE BAND. WHEN RECORDING VOCALS AND USING GARAGE BANDS SOFTWARE INSTRUMENTS WITH A MIDI KEYBOARD I HAD NO PROBLEM. I COULD HEAR EVERYTHING.
WHEN I USE LOGIC TO RECORD MY VOCALS I CAN SEE THE SOUNDWAVE BUT I DON'T HEAR ANY SOUND.

WHEN I USE LOGIC'S SOFTWARE INSSTRUMENTS I HEAR THE SOFTWARE GENERATED SOUNDS ONLY ON MY KEYBOARDS SPEAKERS. I DO NOT HEAR THE SOUND ON MY LAPTOP OR IN MY HEADPHONES.

Do you have the proper inputs and outputs selected on the channel strip I/O section?

Perhaps you haven't enabled "Software Monitoring" in the Audio Hardware Preferences box?

That could be it.

Yeah, you must turn "sofware monitoring" on, but how could you avoid audio monitoring delay (latency)...? That´s a good question too.
In Protools you have a "latency control" that let you make record or play
adjustments, but with Logic (6.4 at least) I am still looking the way to do the job. Good luck.

you don't have to turn on software monitoring if you have a mixer or a patch bay before the sound goes into logic. hmm what do you know. if done this way. no latency.

Alot of newer interfaces have the option of direct monitoring as well. (MOTU and Firestation are two that come to mind.. there are many more.)

Me? I don't mind the latency, it's gotten so low. It's nice to run a delay or verb to get me in the mood. smile.gif

You just create an Aux input in Logic and then select the ProTools hardware input # you want for the Aux input source. No need to use software monitoring, no latency.

I don't think it's possible that you hear Logic's software instruments from your Yamaha PSR-248 keyboard's speakers..

PS : No need to SHOUT.
