I'm doing a research project and I need to notate old songs and decifer the lyrics (which are in yiddish, some in russian), so slowing down tempo would help.
I have Finale but it does not import the music files I have (the songs are all copied to iTunes) and if I try to hypersribe I get garbled notes which are mostly inaccurate. I don't want to invest in something and find out it doesn't do what I need, so any suggestions would be very appreciated. imac g4, 1 gb, 10.3.5, omnistudio usb, octava 319 mic, m-audio keystation 49e (yuk!. new keyboard on wish list too) |

In your situation I would try and eventually buy a program called
Transcribe check it out at www.seventhstring.com The interface its clear and you can concentrate on a specific part of your tune and slow it down without changing pitch. Still you should relay on your ears and use paper and pencil. kind regards Ingvar |

Or try Amazing Slow Downer. Only $40 and it really works (I have it myself). There's a trial version on the website: http://www.ronimusic.com/.

I'll add a second to the Amazing Slow Downer. I have it as well and it works great. I use it to rip off guitar licks and figure out acoustic finger picking stuff with it. The ASD will work with your ITunes files...that's what I pull from.

Thanks, I just downloaded a demo of Transcribe!, will check out ASD also. My ear is pretty good and my vocal coach is even better, however, I have about 30 songs to notate so any way to stream line the work would really help. I haven't done this much theory in years
