Hello all,
I'm considering buying a Korg MicroKontrol, which if now purchased after September 1, comes with Live Lite 4 Korg Edition, SampleTank 2 Korg Edition, and MDE-X (effects plugins). Before I spend the money, I thought I ask here if anyone has had experience with the software that now comes with the MicroKontrol. How does SampleTank 2 compare with Mach 5? Any opinions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I don't know if this will affect your decision making, but here's my 2 cents worth to help you may an informed choice. It needs to be pointed out that Sampletank is a separate technolgy from most other soft samplers. Its files are not wave forms - they are 3 part documents that can only be used on SampleTank. One of my favorite things about my soft sampler (Kontakt) is that I can mix and match wave files from different drum kits I've acquired (including free ones on the web) to make my own "best of" kit. This is not possible with Sampletank. It may not matter to you, depending on your work flow, but at least now you can decide.

I was unaware of that. Thank you. I'm thinking about trying to save up for maybe both...that's a little bit of $ but it would be cool to be able to use Akai files in SampleTank (which i'm told is possible) and also to be able to use wav files in Mach 5. Thank you again.

My 2 favorites are V-Samp and Crystal . Most folks would not concider Crystal a sampler, but it is capable, plus you can really go insane with what it will do, and the price is right.
