I just bought a Roland XV-5080 and I am unable to get the device to perform more than one instrument voice at a time. I am using Panther on a dial 1.8GHz G5, driving it with both Sibelius and Logic Express. It has been some time since I have been involved in MIDI, but I seem to remember using the Roland Sound Canvas with Encore to play numerous polyphonic instruments simultaneously through one physical MIDI port. While I am advanced as a musicial and composer, I admit that I am a noobie when it comes to MIDI. If anyone has any information that can lead me to a solution I would greatly appreciate it. I simply want multiple staves in Sibelius for example, each staff representing a different polyphonic patch on the Roland XV-5080, and have all played back at once. When I assign the midi instruments to each staff in Sibelius, only the first staff/instrument is played as the Roland is set to recieve on MIDI channel 1. If I set it to recieve on channel 2, staff 2 is played and so one. I am not sure if my problem is on the Sibelius side or on the Roland side. Anything you can provide me in the way of information to resolve this problem is greatly appreciated.

I used to own an XV-5080 however don't have one now.
The basic idea of what you need to do is to make sure the XV-5080 is in "performance" mode.
You then need to make sure that each part is assigned to a separate MIDI channel, you have 32 parts available (I think one of the 8 buttons under the display shows part or MIDI beneath it).
You need to then save this performance setting.

Also make sure that parts 1-16 are assigned to MIDI input A and 17-32 are assigned to MIDI input B.

Sorry I can't be more specific.
