I use a Digi 002 at work, system version 1.07 on Mac OSX G4.
It plays audio from Protools and Itunes, but i can't get it to playback any other type of audio, such as from the internet or other programs, even though i've been to Sound settings and selected "Digidesign HW (002)" as sound output. When i use those other programs, the sound comes from the internal speaker.

I'm most confused because at home I own an Mbox and a powerbook with protools on OS9, and i don't have that problem, the Mbox plays back absolutely everything, and the sound panel is also set to "Digidesign HW (Mbox)".

Can anyone help me? I'd sure prefer not having to listen to anything through the internal speaker!

Thanks so much!

I have a stereo miniplug-to-quarter inch Y-cable (about $5 at radio shack) that runs from the headphone output on my Powerbook into inputs 7 and 8 on my Digi002rack. There's a button on the front panel that sends inputs 7 and 8 to the main out puts when pressed. I'm guessing the non-rack version has something very similar.

When I'm not using ProTools, I hit that button and every sound that my Mac makes is routed through my headphone output into the Digi002 and out to my monitors.

Hi Elisa,

I presume you run 002 in "Standalone Mode" already...Myself I drop the audio via optical cables from Logic on my G5 into 002 and it works.(except for that scary doom noise that appears when I put my computer into rest.)

I've read somewhere that the Digidesign HW driver isn't compatible with Panther.(an update will come)
Further, that driver doesn't allow more than one application to interfere with 002 at the time.
This can mean that "hangs" from earlier used apps can block the access to the 002.

Hope it gave you something!
