This is an easy instruction for you to rip your Blu-ray discs to XBMC friendly format for playing on Mac.

XBMC is the ideal solution for your home theater which has been designed to be the perfect companion for your HTPC. The free multimedia player XBMC is much favored by Xbox owners, especially for its wide range of video and audio codec.

XBMC Supported a lot of media files in formats as below:

Video formats: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, H.263, MPEG-4 SP and ASP, MPEG-4 AVC (H.264), HuffYUV, Indeo, MJPEG, RealVideo, RMVB, Sorenson, WMV, Cinepak.

Audio formats: MIDI, AIFF, WAV/WAVE, AIFF, MP2, MP3, AAC, AACplus (AAC+), Vorbis, AC3, DTS, ALAC, AMR, FLAC, Monkey’s Audio (APE), RealAudio, SHN, WavPack, MPC/Musepack/Mpeg+, Shorten, Speex, WMA, IT, S3M, MOD (Amiga Module), XM, NSF (NES Sound Format), SPC (SNES), GYM (Genesis), SID (Commodore 64), Adlib, YM (Atari ST), ADPCM (Nintendo GameCube), and CD-DA.

Unfortunately, Blu-ray discs aren’t supported by default in XBMC application. To take XBMC as a Windows Media Center for HTPC (Home Theater PC) to enjoy Blu-ray on Mac, you need to convert Blu-ray videos to XBMC media center supported format at first, then playing them on HTPC will be as easy as a pie. The next paragraphs focus on how to convert Blu-ray/DVD to MKV/MP4 files for playing via XBMC .

Software you need:

This Top BD/DVD Ripping tool is named Pavtube Bytecopy for Mac. I was attracted by Web review and reasonable price at first, reading so many bd ripper reviews, what's I like most about this software is Video and audio option including several devices. Overall, Pavtube ByteCopy FOR mAC is my best tool to rip and convert Blu-ray movies and DVDs for watching on any mobile device and media player like XBMC. Meanwhile, I can easily lossless copy your Blu-ray collections to MKV with all subtitles and original audio track for future usage like disc burning with it.

It also supports windows version: Pavtube ByteCopy (Work on windows 8 and windows 8.1 perfectly). Great News!!! Pavtube Software officially released its 2014 Christmas Deal. UP to 50% off is provided lasting to January 31th 2015. Don't miss it! And find more 2014 Christmas Crazy Promotion at Pavtube Facebook.

Money Saving Boundles:

ByteCopy($42) + ChewTune($29) = Only $54.9, Save $16.1
ByteCopy($42) + MXF MultiMixer($45) = Only $69.9, Save $16.1

Note that you must have a BD drive in the first place to support blu-ray playback.

Step 1: Add BD/DVD disc to ByteCopy for Mac

Click "Load file" icon on the top left to load the Blu-ray disc.

Note: A BD drive is needed before ripping.

Step 2: Select MKV/MP4 as the output format

Click “Output Format” option to reveal the format drop-down list. In the "Format" > "Common Video" column, find "MKV(Matroska) Video (*.mkv)" or "H.264 Video(*.mp4)" and choose it as the output format for using on XBMC playback.

Tips: Click "Settings", you can change audio parameters like codec, channels according to your needs. For example, if you want to keep 5.1 audio, you can choose 5.1 Channels option.

It not only supports ripping blu-rays to any formats you like, but also can delete all other feature from the discs like other languages, comments, goodies.

Step 3: Start to convert Blu-ray to XBMC video format

After everything is done, hit the “Convert” button to convert Blu-ray for using on XBMC media center. And all the tasks will be done at fast speed and high quality.

After conversion, you can your enjoy Blu-ray movies via XBMC freely.

Besides Converting, there are also two ways to help you import Blu-Ray to XBMC for Playback.

1: Click “Copy the entire disc” of ByteCopy to 1:1 backup the whole Blu-ray disc with original structure including chapter markers. After accessing the Blu-ray complete backup (BDMV folder), you can follow “drive”>> “BDMV”>> “STREAMS” to find uncompressed M2TS streams to play in XBMC.

2: As PowerDVD can play Blu-ray out of the box on a PC, you can enable PowerDVD as external player in XBMC and then you can open Blu Ray discs in XBMC from BD drive.

All the solutions can help you play Blu-Ray with XBMC, and I think the first one will be your easy and clear answer! Just have a try and start enjoying!
