I own a pair of MOTU 896 interfaces to use with Logic Audio (ver. 6.3.1) on my G4 running OSX 10. Unfortunately, I'm only able to access one at a time. Can anyone tell me if Logic Pro allows multiple core audio devices to run simultaneously? Is there other software that has this ability, or is this perhaps an OSX problem or a driver issue with the 896?

Hiya IGBscott,

I own two MOTU 828 (one first gen & the other a mkII) and I have the same problem on OSX both with Cubase & Logic. I don't think it's a driver issue, I've checked MOTU's website and their driver supports multiple interfaces, however they warn multiple firewire audio interfaces are not supported by Logic. Logic's First Aid also warns you can't use multiple audio interfaces in OSX at the present time.

Moreover, OSX does recognize both interfaces and MOTU assure you can use both at the same time with Audiodesk & DP4. I think it's unfortunately a question of Logic itself. And as I said, same problem with Cubase SX 2.

If your G4 can also boot on OS9, you can always use both with Logic but on OS9. The ASIO driver allows to use both.

Until Emagic & Steinberg release proper updates that allow to use multiple audio interfaces, it's the only solution we have.

Have a good day,
