I'm working with a Mbox (PowerBook G4 1Gig) and have found the mic preamps to be weak! I was wondering if anyone had suggestions of a good dual channel preamp that I could use with the Mbox. I would prefer something with tubes to add warmth. I'm not sure of budget restraints, but just for the fun of it let's say $200-$500.

On the clean side of things, FMR audio RNP or Presonus, or with valves, the TLaudio white rack.
There are others for sure. ![]() -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

Does theMbox have S/Pdif input? If so I would recommend the Apogee minime. It's S/Pdif output, lovely Apogee A/D converters. You'll have a step up in preamp quality and you'll bypass the Mbox filthy converters too. You'll notice a huge difference immediately.
It's portable too. -------------------- |
