Hi Mac Users,
I'm currently deciding between a PC notebook and the following powerbook, which I can just about afford second hand: POWERBOOK G4 12.1" 867MHZ SUPERDRIVE (DVD-R/CD-RW) SYSTEM 640MB + AIRPORT EXTREME. I'm used to using reason for my production needs and I would anticipate using reason, ableton live and numerous soft synths for a live set. Are the specifications I've listed likely to be sufficient? Many thanks... Danny |

One thing to keep in mind that I found with a 12" running Reason is that the knobs and sliders can be pretty tough to work with on that small screen.
-------------------- Powerbook 15" 1Ghz 768MB :: MOTU 828 ::
Logic Platinum 6 :: Propellerhead Reason 2.5 :: Ableton Live 3.0.1 :: Peak 4 :: Midiman Oxygen8 :: M-Audio BX-5 Monitors :: Firewire drive |

Conversely, I used Reason for a long time on a G3 600MHz iBook with a 12" screen and wasn't too bothered by the size.
To answer your main question, I'd say that particular PowerBook should be sufficient. However, the more synths you run in real-time, the greater the CPU strain. That's true of any computer. |
